The primary focus during a disaster aftermath is usually the victims of that disaster. Thus the People Registry which is the combination of disaster victim registry and missing person registry.Disaster Victim registry is a centralized system that among other features provides the ability to track, list, search and update information on Disaster Victims.

The Disaster Victim Registry is also cross linked with the Missing Person Registry, Shelter Registry and the Housing Registry thus maximizing effective coordination of Disaster Victims across shelters and reduces the repetition of information when adding other details about them through Sahana System.

As added advantages it also provides the ability to generate reports, forecast disasters and view details as drilldowns based on groups of Disaster Victims, their shelters and in the case of multiple incidents based on the disasters.

Preamble

The purpose of this document is to ascertain from end-users the functionality expected of Sahana in order to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Input is encouraged from members of the Humanitarian Aid sector and others engaged in the provision or receipt of aid. Outputs are offered as a preliminary to Sahana implementation planning for the purpose of assessing practical design concepts.

The scope of this document is limited to information on individuals. Other documents will address the information required on incidents, damage, family units, camps and other requirements.

This document is a work in progress and does not propose a release strategy for the Sahana application.

Methodology:

Requirements identified are a compilation of input from representatives of the Humanitarian Aid Sector; analysis of existing systems and documentation provided by users and technical specialists. It is through such input the Project Team hopes to develop an understanding of requirements, priorities and practical design feasibilities.

Outputs are provided as a delimited list categorised by Name (field); Type (disaster victim, aid worker or other person); Locale Specifics (alternate requirements depending on Geo-Political interpretations); Order of Priority (the necessity of data for the provision of aid), and Associated Datasets (additional data requirements). All content offered for inclusion in associated datasets should be considered as suggestive only. This definition does not include associations to other systems reliant on information contained within the ‘People Register’.
