Abstract: This proposal describes the design and development plan for the Volunteer Management module for the Sahana open source disaster management software system (http://www.sahana.lk). The design is based on the existing Volunteer Coordination module, and it incorporates features included in the Volunteer Management and Volunteer Registry modules that were developed as part of the Source for HumanITy demonstration system (http://www.cs.trincoll.edu/sahana_dev/www/). The proposed module will incorporate the existing features of all three modules into a single integrated volunteer function. It will make full use of Sahana's existing access control structure to separate those functions that are available to any and all users and those that must be reserved for privileged users.
